St. Denis Cemetery Guidelines

- The Parish Council shall insure the maintenance and appearance of the St. Denis cemetery.
- Plot Expenses:
- For Parish members the cost per plot is $400. If at that time a second plot is reserved for a surviving spouse or family member that cost is also $400, payable at time of reservation.
- Cost per plot for Non parish members who had or have an affiliation with a St. Denis family is $800, a second reserved plot also costing $800, payable at time of reservation.
- People with a request to be buried at St. Denis with no affiliation cost is $1000, with a second plot also costing $1000, payable at time of reservation. These plots may be purchased at the Pastor’s discretion.
- A headstone or concrete marker, some way to mark grave (no cheap aluminum marker) must be placed on grave plot(s) within Six Months of burial. Placement of headstones will continue with rows established, and next plot in line.
- No current member of St. Denis Parish will be denied internment in church cemetery because of inability to pay. This decision will rest with the Pastor.
- St. Denis Parish Pastor or his designee reserves the right to amend or modify any or all portions of this document without notice.
- Cremation Burial Rates same fee schedule as above. Children cremated could be buried above family member at no charge, and plate placed on their marker.
- Placement of flowers and memorials:
- The family shall remove flowers on fresh graves within 30 days of burial.
- No, glass, porcelain, ceramic, tile or other breakable items.
- Items allowed on grave markers/tombstones are to be affixed in such a way so that wind and weather will not alter the original placement. All arrangements should be marked in order to identify, in the event it were to be displaced due to weather.

- The cemetery will be cleared of all grave decorations placed on the ground around the graves for the March 1st through October 31st mowing season. Memorial Day decorations will also be removed for mowing when necessary. Any decorations attached to the top or the sides of gravestones (off the ground and not in the way of mowing or trimming) may remain.
- Grave “blankets” are allowed for the period of November 1st through February 28th.
- Planting of shrubs, flowers, or plants is not allowed on any plot or grave.
- At the discretion of the cemetery caretakers the removal of improperly placed, weather-worn or damaged articles will be exercised.
- Additional guidelines:
- A vault or outside container is required for burial.
- Grave depth minimum should be 5 ½’
- Anyone who has purchased a plot that will not be needed must sell it back to the parish for amount paid. This will allow the keeper of records to maintain accurate records and proper burial placement.
- Plots may not be transferred or willed.
- Plot location is determined by cemetery representative. Purchaser does not choose plot location.
